13 agents from the States will arrive in the Kingdom of Tonga tomorrow, Saturday 3 March for the Eva Mai Tonga Tourism Experience (ETTE) which is set to start on Tuesday, 6 March.  The remaining agents from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji will arrive in the country on Monday and Tuesday.

The agents will get the chance to meet at least 50 tourism operators on the Business Day, which will be held at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre on Friday 9 March, 2012.  The six day Exchange itinerary also includes a welcome ceremony, traditional buffet dinners and cultural shows and familiarisation tours of Tongatapu, Vava'u, Ha'apai and 'Eua.  The itinerary for the exchange can be viewed here.  The agents will be escorted on the tours by the prominent members of the tourism industry to ensure they experience the best of what the Kingdom of Tonga has to offer whilst they are here.

The exchange is an initiative from the Tonga Tourist Association and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Members of the Tongan tourism community, local businesses and the airlines (namely Air Pacific, Virgin Australia and Chathams Pacific).

According to the Ministry of Tourism, 'the Eva Mai Tonga Tourism Experience is in line with the Ministry’s marketing strategy of supporting events to attract tourism trade and community buyer influence, in addition to activities targeting non-Tongans and Tongans residing overseas'.
