Mr. Jurgen Stavenow of Sandy Beach Resort, Ha'api proudly received with honour the Golden Palmtree Award from Geo Saison during their annual special award ceremony on Thursday evening, March 8th, 2012 at the ITB in Berlin, Germany.

Geo Saison is the most highly level Travel Magazine in Germany.  Each year they award three special prizes to the most outstanding Travel Projects from over 100 entries.

Sandy Beach's Robinson Crusoe vacation won the first prize for the most outstanding adventure vacation category.  

According to Jurgen from Sandy Beach Resort, 'Robinson Crusoe vacation started mid last year but it has attracted/created its own niche market.  A maximum of two people at any given time can book this vacation. This adventure vacation attracts people who value the environment, respect our culture and our Tongan way of life'.  

He adds that so far more than four groups have taken this adventure vacation.

The Minsitry of Tourism says, 'the award is a great publicity for Tonga and has drew a lot of attention of the German travellers.  It has also created a lot of awareness in the mind of the German travel industry and a huge exposure for Tonga considering the distribution of Geo Saison.
