Radar Across the Pacific is a new documentary series that aims to reflect and celebrate the growing cultural diversity of New Zealand's population.  A one whole hour episode has been dedicated to The Kingdom of Tonga.

New Zealand has the largest Pacific Island population in the world. However,  like most of us, Radar knows very little of the countries that these people come  from. So he is off on a voyage of discovery across the Pacific to meet the people  and explore the cultures and land of these nations.

In Tonga Radar has a once-in-a-lifetime experience swimming with a humpback  whale and her calf. He delves into the controversial sea cucumber industry  and discovers how one man’s vision from childhood has grown into the most  amazing botanical garden in the Pacific Islands.

Radar is charmed by a real life  Pacific Princess as he investigates how the monarchy has managed to survive in  Tonga for over a thousand years. And he faces a huge dilemma as to whether or  not he should buy a rare turtle from the Nuku'alofa fish market and free it.

You can catch all this on New Zealand's TVONE at 7:30pm on the 26 June 2012.
