Representatives from across the Kingdom departed for New Zealand on the weekend to host an exciting showcase of Tonga’s tourism attractions. Two Ministry of Tourism staff are leading the Roadshow Team consisting of accommodation providers and tour operators.

The group will split into two teams upon arrival with the first making sales calls to industry representatives in Mt Maunganui and Hamilton. The second team will visit Christchurch and Dunedin in the South Island. The teams will reform in Auckland on 31 August to host two impressive seminars at the Langham Hotel and the Spencer on Byron Hotel on the North Shore. Over 100 members of New Zealand’s tourism community will attend the seminars where the Roadshow Team will promote Tonga directly to the international market.

Two fantastic package trips to Tonga will be on offer to lucky guests at the seminars. The prizes were generously contributed by accommodation, tour and activity providers attending the Roadshow. Winner of the 2011 Miss Heilala Pageant, Miss Liberty Afeaki, will join the group on Tuesday to provide public relations support at the event. She will continue to promote Tonga during the Rugby World Cup. With millions of people watching Auckland it is a fantastic opportunity to steal some of the spotlight for Tonga.

The Roadshow Team will be returning to the Kingdom on Saturday 3 September.
