The Tonga Visitors Bureau (TVB) is proud to announce the launch of a large-scale roadshow in New Zealand showcasing Tonga’s attractions on the international stage. Fourteen representatives from across Tonga’s tourism community will attend the roadshow, scheduled for the end of this month. The event will include two seminars in Auckland and a number of sales meetings across the country, giving Kiwi operators the chance to learn more about promoting Tonga as a tourist destination.

The roadshow, to be held from 29th August – 2nd September, is one of several promotional programs initiated by the TVB to revitalise its presence in New Zealand. Information seminars will be held at the Langham Hotel in Auckland and the Spencer on Byron Hotel on the North Shore. The team has also confirmed sales meetings in Mt Maunganui, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin. All island groups in Tonga will be promoted to tourism businesses in New Zealand with participation from accommodation and tour providers as well as activities such as diving, swimming with whales and kayaking.

“The TVB is looking forward to carrying out these promotional activities in this target market”, says Director of Tourism, Mr Sakopo Lolohea. “Although statistics in visitor arrivals at the beginning of the year were not too promising, May has shown good growth. The TVB is committed to key promotional efforts and is confident that we will track improvements in visitors from New Zealand over the coming months”.
